The Driver

I was sixteen years old when I started to learn how to drive the stick shift. It was fun because I was able to control how fast I can drive. I was fortunate I did not crashed my car or hit anyone. This started when I was in the Philippines. Majority of the drivers in the Philippines does not obey the traffic signs, but we follow the traffic lights to stop and go. When I came here in the States, It was totally different. It was the opposite of what I have learned. Good thing I passed the written test at D.M.V. I failed once at the actual test, but passed the second time. Driving here in the States is more relaxing compared to where I came from, Although I can say that there are Drivers who doesn't really know how to drive. I have seen drivers who cut-off other drivers. They are not a defensive driver, or maybe they don't pay attention.
Presently, I am driving an automatic car, but I'd rather drive a manual car.

Hey Tess,
If you think that it's more relaxed driving in the US, I have the feeling that you have not driven in Manhattan. I bet it's more relaxing driving in the Philipines, I have driven in many places in the world, including Italy which was pretty crazy. However, Manhattan is not a good place to drive; Yellow cabs cut you off from right and left, they would never let you merge into their lane. And the traffic signs... if you look for a parking space you would never know by the sign if it's legal to park or not. It's so confusing...

I haven't drive in Manhattan; however, I have the same feeling here it is more relaxing. Almost eveybody respect all the trafic sights. You do not have to worried for anything and if somenthing happen people is really polite. In my country, it seemes to be as Philipines. Everybody drives how they want, they don't respect anything and you have to drive in a defensive way, if not you would stay forever waiting to move.

Wow, driving in the Philippines sounds like another version of Italy. In Italy if you drive on the left lane in a highway, you better look in the mirror often. They tail gating you so close...
Where do you mean when you say here?
